Its not really the dog you will have the problem with it will be the cats. We just adopted a cocker and we already had a cat. The dog will just stare at the cat and when the cat hisses the dog will chase. You might need to put the cats confined in a room. We have our cat in the master bed room and we let them have breif supervised interactions. Play it by ear and good luck.

I have an adorable cocker spaniel. It is true. There are some cockers that are very docile and very sweet but there are others who have an aggressive-diva attitude like my cocker, but I still love her.

We did the elimination diet with our cocker. She’s allergic to meal (corn and such) and is doing great with sweet potato and salmon kibble right now. Just introduce a new food every few weeks.

I have never been without a cocker spaniel since I was 18..the boy dog I have now(Harleigh D Kelly) came from Woodstock,Ontario; He will be 10 on May 23rd…he just learned to open fridge door, get a beer (in bag) bring it then return and shut the fridge door. It is on YOU TUBE somewhere….he learned that in ‘FIVE tries..20 minutes !! NOTHING is as loving and intelligent as a cocker .He has gotten his AATCh and Bronze Award of merit..(AGILITY).hasown skateboard, etc. I JUST LOVE HIM!!!!

I bet it is primary seborrhea…bathe regularly with a high tar content shampoo and try a low dosage of Vanectyl (always with advice of Veterinarian…a ’scraping sent for testing will show IF it is primary seborrhea or not. (Mange is also a possibility!!) other than that, allergies…oats and milk by products are often the culprits !!

I had 5 Cocker Spaniels and they were all very sweet, lively and loyal. Great dogs! But I’ve heard that they were overbred and there are some problem ones out there. There are also problem owners. So research the dog breed you are interested in, research the parents and be a good owner. Take care of your dog and show it love and 99% of the time, the dog will respond lovingly!

Yep, really if a dog is aggressive or truobled it either comes from it’s parents or the previous owner was abusive.

There are two types or Cocker spaniels.
Showing, and working, working cockers will need more exercise than show types.
